Meet your Designer

Hi, dog friend. My name is Karina. I’m a dog lover and sewist at heart.

I started sewing when I was 10. From 1997 to 2015, I sewed dog accessories that I sold at my pet store and craft fairs. In 2015, I started exploring patchwork and quilting, and this has now become my passion.

I have always been a dog lover, and as soon as I was able to get a dog of my own, I went to the humane society and adopted a Newfie mix who kept getting overlooked, and he was the best dog. I have since had four other dogs, and I’m currently the mom of two Chihuahuas. After a ten-year career in I/S as a programmer and project manager, I left the corporate world to follow my dream of owning a pet store. Supporting local dog rescues has always been a part of my mission, which has ultimately led me to foster more than 20 dogs and spend six years volunteering and helping to run a local rescue organization.

Creative Dog Mom was created from the two things I love, dogs and sewing, and so I can sew custom pieces to match my decor and style. When shopping for dog-themed fabric, I found that most of it is created for kids and doesn’t match my decor style, but with my dog-themed creations, I can now use any fabric and still have dog-inspired decor pieces. Everyone who saw my quilt asked for the pattern, so I decided it was time to turn my creations into quilt patterns so you, too, can make custom quilts to match your style.
